Vitaslastfan is a DJ based in Philadelphia. When it came to creating a music visualizer for one of his sets, we both knew we had to incorporate his namesake, the PlayStation Vita. Sony’s PSP, Vita, organic wallpapers and graphic design from the era all served as inspiration.
I wanted to create something unique and futuristic, while still being believable as a handheld device.
It’s Got Layers
In the compositing process I reached a breakthrough. Started out metallic silver, but realized I could layer on this glossy shader by running a second render pass and using the Linear Light blend mode to bring out those sleek highlights. This effect, along with some light streaks and flares helped achieve that crystalline energy flow I had imagined.
